SOPV 2026: the essentials
SOPV 2026: A grant application only makes sense when you know which production test, investment and supporting documents you can actually deliver. For plastics processors, that is now relevant: the revised Subsidie Omschakeling Plasticverwerkers (SOPV) scheme has been open since 6 October 2026. This is a different scheme from the CPNL round, which closed on 6 October.
What has changed?
According to RVO, businesses can carry out production tests with more types of polymers in 2026, including elastomers, thermosets and composite materials. The total budget is €2.2 million. Up to €25,000 in funding is available per application, and each business can receive a grant only once. Applications are open until 15 December 2026 at 17:00. Check the current conditions and available funding with RVO.
The way it works now
- The appointment is in one colleague's mailbox
- Data is manually retyped from one system to another
- The person who knows is on vacation
- No one can see afterwards why this decision was made
As it is
- The agreement is stored with the client, findable for everyone
- Once entered, information flows through to the rest
- Work continues, even if someone is absent
- Every decision has a source, an owner, and a date
Where do businesses encounter difficulties?
A manufacturer wants to use more recycled or bio-based material, but the test plan sits with production, cost prices with finance and supplier information with procurement. No one has a single overview of whether the test is feasible, financeable and eligible for a grant. This can lead to missed deadlines, incomplete applications or investment decisions made without insight into risk and working capital. These are possible consequences, not measured losses for a particular company.
From signal to decision
Start by checking whether your production test falls within the current scheme. For each test, record the material type, supplier, production line, responsible person, costs, own financing, supporting documents and decision date. Check the official conditions before treating any grant amount as expected funding in your budget. Make uncertainties visible and assign an owner to every missing step.
What can Bedrijfsgeheugen do to help?
Powerhouse can link RVO's external signal to a company's own product, process and financial data. The system can create a contextual action card, flag missing information, place the deadline on the roadmap and present the impact on budget, capacity and risk for review. Without customer data, that impact is a hypothesis, not a proven saving or grant award.
What should you measure afterwards?
Measure whether eligibility has been checked, how many supporting documents are still missing, whether the test plan was approved on time, and the actual investment and any grant award. Also record why an application does not proceed. This supports better-informed future investment decisions.
